From Linda Cabot, founder and president:
"Congratulations! You have been selected as a winner of one of Bow Seat’s 2023 Educator Innovation Awards! We were so impressed by the creative ways that you brought the Ocean Awareness Contest into your classroom and by your passion for engaging your students in environmental action."
"Educational opportunities for all across nations and cultures have long been at the center of her advocacy."
Julianne Smith | Professor of English (Pepperdine University)
"I can't thank you enough for all the laughter, fun times, and passionate discussions we've had together in class! Every class was so inspiring and none of this would've been possible without all your help and careful guidance."
"In her role as department lead, Angela showed a rare ability to unite, inspire and lead her team on two counts: the operational aspects of delivering qualifications in a target driven neoliberal college, and the intellectual and creative dimensions of teaching English language and literature in a diverse inner-city college."
"Thank you for taking care of my son during these stressful weeks; I know he enjoyed working with you and really appreciated your insights. We both feel good about his university essays and look forward to the outcomes!"
"Angie’s presence as a life mentor helped make my transition into the American education system easier. With her immense understanding of different subjects, she guided me through many challenging processes. But most importantly, Angie is now a friend whom I deeply trust."
"I have been inspired by not only her commitment to her students and their writing but also her teaching ability and her subject knowledge."
"She is the best educator I have had in a while. She is open and friendly, her feedback made me feel better about the work I was doing and she is so understanding. I feel very confident in my writing ability now and I am very excited to continue that journey."
"I really appreciate your precious help and support! There's no way I could have achieved this without you. In one week of writing, you helped me accomplish extrodinary things. I look forward to being mentored by you in the future."
"My daughter told me you are her favorite teacher. She said you are engaging, knowledgeable, and funny, and she is so relaxed and enjoys writing with you. I'm happy to hear she has had such a wonderful learning experience with you."
"She makes great use of technology and does her best to help her students out. Professor Smith has a very welcoming and upbeat personality, making a class at 8 a.m. not so dreadful."
"Angela’s commitment to making the education system a place where students can thrive in, is a small yet major testimony of her character. I feel blessed to have such a great mentor who is constantly giving me her time still, regardless of the time difference. This reflects the kind of amazing human that she is."
"What a great job you have done with my son! He loves learning and working with you. Thank you very much for your advice and educating!"
"Thank you so much, Angie! I’m glad I had you for WRT both of my first two semesters. Thanks for helping me grow my writing skills and expanding my perspective on things."
"Amazing professor! The class was on zoom, but she did a great job of making our class feel like a team.
She made me actually like writing in her class. Simply cannot stress enough how amazing she is as a professor."
